Finding a Good Sports Bra

This is a topic I think frustrates women so much. We all want to get in shape, but if your boobs bounce and hurt, it’s just more trouble than it is worth. Finding a good sports bra is crucial.

After hunting around, I’ve found a good video that shows how a sports bra is supposed to fit. Now let me tell you, I know this video shows off a woman who has tiny little boobs and has no issue finding a sports bra. The video *is* good, however, in showing you how a bra should fit.

OK. What about women with BIG BOOBS?

OK, so skinny people have no issues finding bras, but what about the rest of the population? If you are larger than a C cup — and most women are — this skinny people type of bra doesn’t work for you. I know many women who put on 2 bras hoping to cure the bounce problem.

The issue with wearing 2 bras is that you can’t breathe. And you don’t get that much more support. I actually saw a program on the Discovery channel that showed a scientist who studied nothing but sports bra design (who knew..?) and the best bra for the larger busted women actually had an underwire and looked something like this:

Notice there is an underwire and a seam through the cup. It’s also got wide straps in the shoulders so the bra doesn’t dig into you. Link to actual bra here.

I have to say, Freshpair.com is probably the best bra buying site I’ve ever found. They have more combinations of bra sizes than I’ve ever seen. Every combination from 30A to 52N. Their prices are a little on the expensive side, but if you can find a bra that fits, then it’s worth it.

Managing Your Car Loans

With all of the housing loan woes of today and the economy looking being one of the most sluggish since the 1980’s, people all over the US are looking for more ways to save a little money AND their credit. One of the biggest expenses most people have next to their rent or their mortgage is their car loan.

There is help, however. Many women do not know that it is possible to refinance their car loan. What this means is that a new lender will take over your original loan. Many times, you can get a better deal on your interest rate which, over the life of the loan could save you thousands. This is also something you may need to do in the event of a divorce in order to get your ex-spouses name off of the loan.

If you realize you do need to get a Car Refinance, you may wish to take a look at the Finance Genius web site. I particularly like the calculators they have including the auto finance calculator so you can see what you really spend, a calculator to figure your debt to income ratio, and the impact of only paying the minimum on your credit cards.

I very much believe it is time for women to take a personal stand in their finances. Being in the know about how your money is spent gives you power. And as women, we need all the power we can get.

How Often Do You Clean Your Makeup Brushes and Replace Mascara?

Makeup is a breeding ground for bacteria, particularly mascara. Think of all the bacteria you have on your skin and then think how often you touch your brushes to your face. We wouldn’t go a week without washing our hands, why do we wait so long with our makeup brushes?

I admit to being bad about this, mainly because I don’t often bother with makeup. I am, however, a mascara lover.

According to the CDC, you should replace your mascara at least once every 3 months. To make this easier, I’ve started putting the “throw out by” date on the mascara with a marker so when that date rolls around I know to get new mascara.

With makeup brushes, it is recommended to wash them at least once a week if they are for powder applications, and every day for liquid makeup such as concealer, foundation, lip products and cream eye shadow. (Although, what may be simpler still is to apply some of those with a clean finger!)

To wash your brushes, simply use some mild shampoo and roll it in your hand until it lathers. Then, rinse under water until the water runs clear. I’ve also heard that you can use a mix of vinegar and water to wash your brushes, though I’ve never personally tried it.
